Polyetheretherketone is part of the new PEEK family of thermoplastics offering new levels of performance, with advantages in the plastic manufacturing process and final results that can make plastic parts that were previously unavailable. PEEK material can replace the use of metal in some cases, and bearings, piston parts, and valves have all been manufactured using polyetheretherketone. Its heat resistance makes it useful as a high temperature plastic where the properties of plastic are desired in challenging environmental conditions.
