Need a custom injection molded plastic part
that is suitable in high strength/high heat applications?
Aline Components has the thermoplastic material you need
to make your end product or subsystem run smoothly, efficiently,
and accurately for a long service life. A premier plastic
injection molding and manufacturing company located in
Kulpsville, PA, Aline Components utilizes the finest polyetherimide
(PEI) resins to custom fabricate components that require
long-term high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures.
At Aline Components, polyetherimide is available
in transparent and opaque colors as well as glass-filled
grades upon request. FDA and USP Class VI compliant colors
are available on a custom basis. We work directly with
some of the most reputable resin suppliers in the business
and feature General Electrics Ultem® family
of polyetherimide resins. Whether you need standard or
glass-filled formulations, Aline Components provides customers
based internationally, nationally, and regionally in Pennsylvania,
New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland with custom plastic
parts or components that exhibit a higher level of heat
resistance, chemical resistance, dielectric strength,
and much more.
What is Polyetherimide
Thermoplastic Material?
Pure polyetherimide (PEI) is an amber transparent, amorphous
high performance polymer. Ultem® is a transparent
polymer with an amber hue. Rods and sheets composed of
polyetherimide plastic are typically dark, almost black
in appearance and glass filled formulations appear slightly
less dark, almost caramel in color. What allows PEI to
perform continually in high heat applications is its ability
to maintain its strength up to 200°C while unfilled,
transparent grades are equal in strength to other thermoplastic
materials with opacifying fillers.
Polyetherimide Plastic Properties
Inherently flame resistant and low smoke generating, Ultem®
polyetherimide excels in various medical applications
that require repeated sterilization, as well as structural
applications that require a tolerance for high heat. Polyetherimide
is a uniquely balanced thermoplastic material that exhibits
both high mechanical properties and processibility. Some
of its mechanical properties include a remarkable elevated
thermal resistance, high dielectric strength and stiffness,
and a broad chemical resistance. Easy processibility allows
the designers at Aline Componentss flexibility and
freedom in plastic injection molding and manufacturing.
Advantages of Polyetherimide Plastic
Include:
• High dielectric strength
• Excellent flame and heat resistance
• Extremely low smoke generation
• Resistance to environmental stress and cracking
• Outstanding hydrolysis and acidic solution resistance
Due to the high dielectric strength and
rigidity at elevated temperatures, Aline typically machines
injection molded plastic parts or components for analytical
instrumentation, electrical insulators, and much more.
Ultem® is exceptionally difficult to ignite and meets
various specifications including, but not limited to UL94
V0. This thermoplastic material generates low smoke with
combustible parts no more toxic than wood.
When compared to other amorphous thermoplastics,
polyetherimide resins retain strength and resist stress
and cracking better in extremely demanding environmental
conditions. Exposure to automotive and aircraft fluids,
alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, acids, and weak aqueous
solutions pose no challenge for plastic injection molded
parts or components manufactured by Aline Components.
We are a plastic injection molding and manufacturing
company and suggest using Ultem® polyetherimide
when well above average performance is required.
